Surrounded by a wall of sound and large crowd dancing.

Betel nut girls...
In Taiwan I ran into a strange phenomenon.
These are the betel nut girls.
They sell betel nuts on every major road that goes out of town. To attract
more costumers they dress up very sexy.
Whenever you feel like having some nuts, just drive up their shop.
They will come out, sell you some and have a friendly word. In the
meanwhile you can take a glimpse of their bodies. No
touching, just look! When there is nothing to do they will prepare the nuts.The nuts are packed in a leave and have
some mint paste for the taste. They are popular with taxi- and truck drivers
cause they keep you going for a long, long time...(here is an
idea!).... Have
the guts to go nuts? Never tried them myself. The nuts color your
mouth and spit bright red.

Pere Lachaise...
Well, beauty, in the end it is all ashes and
dust. And then the weeping, mourning and sadness starts. Here in
Pere Lachaise in Paris they know how to
do this in style.
Therefore here a moment of reflection.

Beauty contest...
In the south of Thailand I ran into a
beauty contest. Very serious business! I could tell from the nervous
smiles and the trouble the women went through to look their best.
It took about two hours to get the final result. The jury had a hard
time coming to a decision. As always. About half the contesters got A+ from me
but the final three were awesome.
What a joy it was!

Extravaganza...
A party in Nijmegen.
Pictures taken during the Fortuna party. There was so much more beauty to
see. But you cannot stick a camera in people's face if they are
going out of their mind, can you?

Vierdaagse...
De Vierdaagse is an international festival
in Nijmegen.. Ten thousands of people come and walk for
four days. Each day 40 or 50 km. At the same time there is
festival with music an theatre in town. That's the fun part if you
ask me.

Laos ...
Very hard to take pictures in this remote
country. Everybody has seen the stranger long before you have seen them. And
they are so shy. You have to be patient and gain some confidence
first. But then there is always this smile that makes it all worth while.

The land of the smiles. I have never seen
so much beauty gathered together in one country. Weather east or
west, south ,or north in Isaan. You are surrounded with beauty and smiles.

a lovely country!
